Niki Antadze Rkatsiteli 2016

Delicious amber, qvevri wine with only three days of skin contact so it isn't very full bodied or tannic.
It has orange peel, peach, apricot, nuts, forrest floor and earth notes while still remaining fresh. It smelled a tad funky at first but that blew off quickly. We paired it with fine dining asian food and it drank beautifully. Bright and delicious amber wine.

Former nightclub owner Niki Antadze is another influential natural winemaker this time working in the highly regarded PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) Manavi region of Kakheti. He farms his vineyards as naturally as possible, uses no chemicals in his marani and only traditional techniques to produce a variety of styles from the Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane and Saperavi grapes. These are wines with real soul, just like the man himself who is so laid back it is almost necessary to check for a pulse. Niki’s tiny production has a cult following for the extreme concentration and deep layers of complexity the wines exhibit, as well as their gentle soulfulness.
